Personally I trust any politician about as far as I can throw me dad's Zafira... I'll therefore reserve judgement on this lot as well...

So far

VAT rises to 20% from January 2011

Income tax band raises by £1,000 to £7,454 - this is good!!!

Child benefits for those earning over £40k a year reduced - this is good also!! (im sorry but if you can bring over £40k into a household and end up relying on tax credits for the up-keep of a child then your idiot, although i do understand in some unfortunate cases this is un-avoidable)

Public Sector pay freezes on earners over £21k - my mate aint best pleased, but hes a lazy sod anyway

many mroe but not critical to joe public really

Have to admit it's nowhere near as aggressive as I expected - it seems to be based more on public spending cuts rather than raised taxes (complete opposite to Labour). Yes other than VAT it's all positive for the general public - and even VAT won't be a big burden if you're not a massive spender. And as much as Labour may argue we all knew that whoever came into office VAT was going up, at least this way we haven't got a million other stealth taxes to go with it.

Also think it's great that housing benefit is capped at £400 a week - that should be plenty to get a reasonable home anywhere other than the most expensive parts of the country. I was confused by a comment on the BBC site by a member of the public though, who said that you couldn't rent a property for that much and millions will be homeless.........how much do houses rent for in your areas? In my area in North London (which isn't a cheap place) you can get quite a nice 4 bed home for £1500 a month........Is there any truth to it or is it just another example of the sort of moron who votes labour? :tongue_smilie:
