How easy is it for an insurance company to trace/notice a remapped car if everything else was stock? and what would cause them to check?

tried asking similar question on another forum but it turned into a witch hunt that i wasnt going to declare it, and im causing peoples premiums to go up etc etc.

from that i derive they cannot hold a debate within a forum arena so thought id ask you guys lol

I think it's actually very easy for them to find out if they wanted to, the question is whether they'd have a need to check for it. Would they plug the car in and do a diagnostic after a crash? I have no idea, and on some cars I think it may not even show up unless they do some digging.

Either way I'm not sure a remap adds that much to a premium, so you'd need to figure out whether it was worth it overall.

Dragon do chips for the 220 also, I have one of their boxes at home.

I know on VAG cars at least that some of the larger remapping companies have made deals with 1 or more insurance companies so their remaps don't up your premium.

IIRC its Revo or APR who have made a deal with Greenlight.

Was Supercharged Racing Green IS200 Sport. Now APR Stage 1 Seat Leon Cupra (220 Bhp).

That's some good business thinking, and good for consumers too! :thumbup1:
