Decat and engine management light
Decat and engine management light
ive had my car decatted for months now and im eventually sick of the engine management light being on, so how can i get rid of it? also on other cars etc ive heard you can just cut the wires and add in a resistor?
also when payday comes round im gonna buy a decat six branch manifold, so with the removals of the pre cats will the EML come back on?
JJ
The 6 branch will still have holes for the O2 sensors at the front, you need them as they control fuel mixture etc.
The reason can be removed completely though, you can either fit a spacer pulling the O2 sensor back out of the path of the gases but if you want to remove it completely (maybe no hole for the sensor) you need to cancel the heater out (simple job) and fit a O2 simulator, you can buy them on eBay, but I also make them and can sell you one if you want with full wiring diagram.
So basically you make the 3rd sensor into a dummy to block the hole? How much is the kit you make? Do you have a pic?
JJ
Yeah but if you can get a spacer that can work as well.
The units just a sealed little black OD that fits in the ecu box. They're £40 mate. Pm me
40 notes is abit steep really, would this be suitable? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/O2-Oxygen-lamb...2a1bd6d9ed
yeah thats the spacer i was talking about, its the cheaper way of doing things but doesnt always work.
My unit completely removes the sensor itself and is also useful if your decat doesnt have a hole for the sensor.
you wont find an o2 simulator cheaper either.
So does with your kit do you have to solder the wires into the ecu, also my decat pipe doesn't have a lambda sensor hole, that's in the original centre section!
Yes you solder it into the ecu wires. I provide full instructions as to what wires etc.
yer i have one and no problems
easy and i think the best way to do the job with no come backs at the mot time
