Insurance renewal
Insurance renewal
Think I did this last year too, but my insurance renewal has really confused me again! Came through the post at £557.46, and as I've now hit 4 year NCB thought I'd do a quick quote online before ringing them up for how much it would be with NCB protection on.
This instantly came in a bit cheaper at £602.93, but this wasn't a big surprise as that's normally the case that you save about £30 with a new quote.
However the big surprise came when I put the same thing through Confused.com and the price came out with protection at £518.98 (which is a huge saving from my original quote). I've now renewed at that price which I'm quite pleased with but I can't understand how they can pay a commission to confused.com and still be so much cheaper than selling directly themselves!
When I speculatively added the exhaust modification that I've been thinking about, the original quote had no difference in price but the confused quote jumped up £40 which again doesn't really make a whole lot of sense but I've left that off for now anyway as I'm a bit confused which one I'm going for.
In any case I'm pretty happy, but wish I understood how car insurance works!
Hmm very odd.
shows it pays to shop around everywhere, not just comparison sites!
My insurance is coming up very soon, so I need to do some shopping around too.
yh im not looking forward to Direct Lines renewal quote in november and will probally shop around, thing is my premium probally be so high it will be in the region of 1500-1800 and yes thats for my astra.
if i took the new one out with a different company and pay monthly then i would need atleast a 500 deposit, so instead im planning to pay what ever the full price is up front.
well its a plan
Shopping around is vital with car insurance more so than with anything else!
I always tend to check all the major insurers own websites, and then the comparison websites to check who's cheapest, and for some reason two years in a row now admiral via confused.com has come out on top by a huge margin.
The other weird thing is that no one else even comes close to admiral's price, next cheapest was around £900 which also makes no sense as I'm hardly high risk anymore (I guess it could be the fact the car's modified, if only mildly)
Lexusboy Guys give Andrian Flux and Sky the opition of trying to lower your premium.

I'm with Sky at the moment, and their renewal quote seems pretty decent. I'll definitely talk to Adrian Flux too though, and see what they can offer me. Sky's renewal note claims to guarantee that they will be the cheapest though, which is interesting.

There's so many factors that I think are included in insurance quotes, things can vary quite wildly. When I originally asked AF for a quote they were miles too expensive, but I'll try them again since some of those factors could have changed, so they might be more competitive this time. Although Sky have given me very good service so far, I'm quite happy with them.
