Laptop going in for warranty repair !
Laptop going in for warranty repair !
Not looking forward to this,
my laptop has come up with a fault with the power connection at the back, the wire has to be put in a certain position for the power to go into the laptop.
I thought it was the adaptor first, so replaced it, started happening again, got the seller on ebay to replace it, whilst that was being replaced i bought another, same problems and now ive ended up with the 3 adaptors.
Rang Acer the manufacturer who passed the buck to Currys, where I bought it from. Currys now arranged a collection tomorrow to take it.
Not looking forward to not just having no laptop between 7 to 10 working days, but for Currys to deal with the repair properly.
Anyone had any experiance?
Knowing curries it'll be dealt with by mastercare if i'm correct as they're all part of the dixons grounp....yikes! Worst aftersales of all time has gotta go to the dixons group I'd say. We had a couple of issues in the past but I really dont remember what they were, think it was just their lack of customer service really so we've never really got anything from them
I have got to do the same shortly and like you i hate sending things off and waiting for them to return, as most of the time the problems are never sorted.
As i have at least eight months left on my Acer i am going to wait to see if there are any other problems before sending off.
That way my model maybe discontinued and there have to give me a replacement or my money back.

Lexusboy Saraj i sure you will of caused yourself a problem by opening it up yourself, you would of course be ok if your had this done by a authorised dealer.
Your have to hope they dont know that it was you that opened it.

Saraj thats when it clicked. The thing is, I have opened my laptop and fitted a bluetooth module to it, would this affect the warranty? surely you allowed to open it up and upgrade its parts?

Saraj i think if you have dropped it then claim on your household insurance.
However your local computer shop would not be authorised to repair your machine (unless they have Acer in there product range).
Do not send it off if your claimimg on your home insurance.

Acer are right to refer you to Currys. If you bought the laptop from Currys, then your contract is with them and therefore any warranty etc.
This is a very common problem with laptops, where the power connector becomes worn. I wonder if they will try and say that it's wear and tear and therefore not covered ? I think you're right to be wary about other signs of damage that they might use to get out of fixing it.
