Hi all,

Any Ideas?

When I am in fourth and fifth gear I seem to have a loss of power at 4.5k revs, they seem to die off then it it pulls again, like a blip in power momentarily!

I have had two suggestions

1 - the engine doesn't like the K&N Typhoon I have fitted.

2 - the spark plugs.

Anyone else any thoughts or knowledge

Cheers

Did you reset the ECU after fitting the induction kit?

If it's still doing it I'd swap back to the standard airbox and see what happens then?

Your right it maybe the plugs as well if there not been changed they may need changing.
What mileage and when were they last changed?

Could it be an issue with the MAF sensor ? This is an IS300, isn't it, and IS300s (unlike IS200s) have MAF sensors.

As Aido suggests, it would be worth taking off the induction kit and seeing if the problem goes away.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

Thanks for your replies guys,

Not sure when the spark plugs were last done it does have full Lexus histoy to date and it's now on 97k!?!

It does have a MAF sensor maybe have that looked at.

Think I'll try the old air box back on it first as I can't remember if it did it when I had original one on and let you know, only thing air box is in Portsmouth at mo :tongue_smilie: (have to wait a couple of weeks)

To be honest if the clutch was slipping it would be more likely to go in the lower gears than 4th or 5th

I would hazard at MAF. Does the engine note change or is there any sign of misfire when it happens?

Hi,

I don't think it's a misfire, it makes the noise of loss of power like a surge if that makes sense, as it's revving nicely then drops?

It is an auto, however I know what gears it's in as using it on the padddle shifts in manual mode!
