Anyone recommend a fault code reader that can read all types of fault codes, not just engine related,
Cheaper the better,

My TRC and VSC light came on last night, no engine fault codes.
Anyone recommend a fault code reader that can read all types of fault codes, not just engine related,

06-10-2017, 09:16 AM #2Do you have a laptop you can use to plug in ? Because the cheapest solution is usually a suitable USB connector for a laptop, as opposed to a standalone code reader.

06-10-2017, 09:18 AM #3When you say TRC is on, do you mean the "TRC OFF" light is on ? Or flashing ? Or is it the picture of the car skidding that is on ?

The TRC OFF and VSC light comes on and stays on the moment the wheels start to turn, I guessing a speed sensor, just need to know what one.
Yes I have a laptop with usb, just concerned as a lot of readers will only read engine codes

hello stav, scan gauge did not pick anything up, only o2- sensors 2 bank 2, this has always been on and the heater elements is knackered on it
Scan gauge did not pick up any other fault

There's a way to read the codes that doesn't need a code reader though. Go to this link, see section 1©. That will make the warning lights blink in a pattern from which you can work out a two-digit fault code. However, this seems to say that the ABS and nrake warning lights should be on as well, so I'm not sure it's going to give you any codes if that's not on ?

06-10-2017, 10:34 AM #8You can get a load of "C" codes (as opposed to the engine "P" codes), e.g. to tell you that a specific speed sensor is having a problem, but I'm not clear on whether OBD-II readers will pick them up or not.
There's a way to read the codes that doesn't need a code reader though. Go to this link, see section 1©. as for the scangauge when we linked it to mine on the tunnel run it didnt pick anything up either when i had those mysterious troubles, maybe it doesnt like 300's?

06-10-2017, 10:53 AM #9b2s2 will cause all the vsc and trc lights of the dash to illuminate, and car goes into limp mode, i had that problem before. i think its the one in the middle of the exhaust, and so as soon as a bit of throttle is used it will cause it to fail. its a right pita mate.
