Coilovers vs. Lowing Springs
Coilovers vs. Lowing Springs
Bit stuck as what to do, I have got ARB's and 18's to go on my new car, but with it being an old '99 model, the car is sky high.
So I get some lowering springs, and get the job done nice and quick.
Or wait, which could take 6months or more and get some coilovers?
Lowering springs, pretty much only do that, lower the car.
Your stressing the standard shocks buy running them with different springs and over a different range.
With coilovers their fully designed for different ranges and tensions etc.
If its just for the look then go with Springs, for handling improvements as well save up for coilovers.
Are the current shocks old? they only last a certain amount of time. I'f the shocks are ok and having the ability to adjust height and rebound are not important then just lower and save a lot of money. Lower and arbs is a great combination.
Think i am going to just go for the lowering springs, mainly for cost and also because they are a bit more insurance friendly.

Will mean my car will be looking like it did before a lot quicker.
If a shock fails, will be able to replace it without having to replace the full set.
James, everyone will tell you never to replace just one shock.
Now I have been fixing and driving cars for 34yrs, in that time I have driven on bald tyres, broke the speed limit and stupid speeds, driven with leaking rear wheel cylinders, AND replaced only one shock at a time on many occasions when funds were low.
So the correct answer to your question,,, You should never replace only one shock,
