Well it would be useful to establish if that is the problem. There will be an admin interface to the router, if you don't know how to get into it, a quick Google of the router name/model will probably find it.
Inside the admin tools there should be a way to show what's connected to it via wireless, and what addresses are being used.
Does his computer complain and say the address is already in use or something ?

lol not sure, its his xbox that wont connect then the dreambox is turned on
i still maintain its the wireless settings, when my mum turns the aV sender on to beam sky upstairs it knocks the entire network out
but hes having none of it
