Haha yep Jim
Well as a you would of seen from my posts on facebook i had the joys of my timing belt jumping! After stripping it down and checking it all out it turns out i was a very lucky chappy!!! The valves literally tapped the top of the pistons but i had no bent valves and all sealed!!!! I know how i was that luck i do not know.
On closer inspection my idler pulley had failed and also the the thread that bolts the tensioner was shot.
I then proceeded to drill out and helicoil this till a later date when i have to replace the front of the engine. not a job that i am looking forward to!!
After replacing the parts i got her back up and running and now runs a dream again. Only issue i have is im now not 100% sure that when i got the car mapped the week before whether it had already jumped a tooth ect so will need to get the car to the mappers again to check it.
While i am there i can get the vvti mapped in as this was not done before as we did not have the correct setup for my Link ECU.
Well not many know but after i had got the car running and on the road again my joys only lasted 4 days!!! Approaching a round about a BMW decided to overtake coming straight off the round about so i had to avoid him and i seriously messed my car up!!! and he drove off. I hit an island and went straight over it smashing the curb with quite some force.
Apologies for the terrible pictures
Basically my alloys, wings, bumper, headlights, drivers door, intercooler and extended arches were all destroyed.
Drivers front wheel had pushed back against the body.
So all in all a very bad position to be in so decisions had to be made whether i was going to repair or to strip and sell off parts.
After sleeping on it i decided im not going to give up and looked to find a donor IS200 that i could strip for most of the parts i required, which i managed to get one that day for £500. Which did not take long for me to get stuck in!!
I got T-Lex to a driveable standard but far from her glorious self
Ordered new intercooler and got ticking over and did a bit of metal work eg big hammer to straighten the rad support bar at the bottom.
That night i decided that i needed to get the new wheels ordered and front bumper as i just couldnt drive her around like that didnt feel right at all where i was proud before and now i wanted to hide behind tinted glass lol
so when on night shift i ordered the new front bumper and wheels and ended up spending £1200.
I will not put the progress of the rebirth of T-Lex as then this will be a surprise for the members attending JapFest
Rear wheels are fitted but i could not fit the fronts as i need space them by 10mm so that they clear the huge LS400 calipers lol so i have ordered new extender ARP studs as the oem ones are too short ( No comments on my height required!!) Stav!!
All new ball joint fitted as i found they were all shot.
The new front bumper and sideskirts are now at the sprayers as i type this up so they will be fitted this weekend .
Once this is done ill be taking her for a full geometery setup as it will be all over the place for sure but was due any how!! lol
Glad to hear she is coming back to life slowly but not good about the circumstances surrounding it
Look forward to seeing the car in a few weeks
Not good at all mate glad your ok tho.
In some respects its a good job he left as I bet he would have left with some damage if u know wot I mean.
