I'm looking at the same issue.
No joy sourcing a 1G GTE one yet (although yet to try my local Toyota dealer come think of it).
What's really concerning me is this - how does an IS200 drive with one on?
I've read people saying everything from "you don't notice a difference" to "it ruins a car as a daily driver" and I suspect it's going to depend on the weight of the flywheel.
I'm looking at a 6.4kg TTV one.
It's a nice and smooth engine, but I don't want to render the car annoying to drive.
Will that mean I have to rev match every upshift? Will it make it annoying to start on a hill (live in wales, so lots of hills!)?
We found out the other day the flywheel fits but the is200 cover plate doesn't. It's smaller than the 1ggte one. It's not a problem you can redrill the fly accept the cover plate no problem.
Ah cheers. Is there a thread about it?
What about how it drives with a lighter flywheel on a standard engine and clutch?
Aware that's a bit of a "How long is a piece of string" question but curious to know.
Not planning any other engine mods yet. Guy at work is trying to convince me I need to drop a 1JZ-GTE in there but convincing wife would be harder.
no sorry it was Jimbob fitting one to his T-Lex that made us realise.
As for how it drives i cant really tell you as ive not had a direct comparisment.
Yeah I know, but I've got one mate, just needs adapting if I change the clutch
