toxo I'd expect them to be very different. Toyota engines undergo some pretty mega revisions over their production lifetime and the 1G has been around for ages! You can put a 3S block from a 1986 Celica next to a 3S block from a 2007 Caldina and they look nothing like each other! Revised water pump housings, oil cooler & filter changes, etc. The heads are totally different as are the water jackets.
The heads in your case will obviously be totally different as one is -F and one is -G so the valve angles, valves themselves etc will all be different.
I think their findings will be interesting :thumbup1:

Thanks for the pics Gord :thumbup1:
As for the 1G-GTE rods, those certainly look a lot beefier than the 1G-FE ones !
ibby I belive the engines were built by toyota,That's the 3S-GE in the Altezza RS200 though, isn't it ?
but the manifolds and the car has been tuned by yamaha

Pistons look like there in pretty good condition mate? :thumbup1:
That piston of Sam's should be made into a trophy for the next JAE awards? cant believe how the valve has gone through it hock:
Bandit Pistons look like there in pretty good condition mate? :thumbup1:Thanks. I'm feeling pretty good about the state of those internals now

Just in case anyone misunderstands - the piston with the valve in it, and the cylinder head pictured, are not from my 1G-GTE engine ! They're from Sam's engine (see his thread here).
A quick update. I've gone back to working on the dash pod today. This is something I'd put aside for a while, but I really need to get it sorted !
As I previously mentioned, I have bought a dash-top pod which nearly fits into the space above the centre air vents (I have no OEM satnav), and I'm trying to modify that (read - hack it to bits) to fix it together with a spare dash tray and *hopefully* make a useable pod out of it. I don't personally care for the pillar pods very much, and I don't want to lose my air vents or stereo, so this seemed like the best place for dials.
I'm not feeling brave enough to post photos yet, in case it turns out to be an utter disaster  . But I am taking photos as I go, so if it works out I'll be able to show you what I did.
I've moved the pics and discussion on Sam's piston (with embedded valve) to its own thread, because I think that's an interesting subject of its own and is likely to get lost in my own thread.
Still waiting on news of the turbo adapter. When it's done then the car will be going in. I've also raised the subject of getting some photos of the work in progress, and Charlesworth have told me that they'll sort that out for me
Great news WE LOVE PHOTOS.
