Supercharged Lexus IS200 SE
right Update time,
El bandido came up from Northants to swap bootlids with me and while he was here i did the boot poper fix so it opened all the way and also helped him fit his new lip style spoiler.
so here are the pics of the 2 granit sky is200's being worked on
and here is the spoiler on my car
and while i was doing these things i drove out to Notts to pick up my new wheels
thats the only pic i have of them as it was dark when i got home all i need now is a new set of center caps for the wheels as he (the seller) only had 3 of them.
i hope you like the pics
nice to see members working together mate!
how do you do the boot popper fix to make it open on its own weight, mine used to til i put my spoiler on now it just pops the lock
on the hinge you will see a mount thats hooked in to a rod you put a bolt between the mount and the rod job done
any one know where the link is or have a pic of where the bolt goes
P.Lindblom I'm not sure if I'm able to explain this in English but I'll try.
The whole spring mechanism is kind of confusing but the only thing it does is pushing against the "arm" that opens the boot lid. Pressure from the spring is always applied which means it weakens over time.
This is what the spring does, or at least tries to do
If you put a spacer between the spring and the "arm" the tension is increased and the boot lid will open up completely. Make sure the spacer isn't too big or your boot will fly open a lot faster than you'd want.
If you want to test this method before you make or find a spacer you can just insert a screwdriver between the spring and the arm.
