Lexus 3S200 GTE Build
Lexus 3S200 GTE Build
In the post tonight Stav, so you should have them on Weds.
sweet mate thank you
Car had a good check up yesterday at SPC. We changed teh ration in the diff from 4.1:1 to 3.9:1, its only one tooth different but its one heck of a difference on the road.
The RPM at 80 before is now the RPM at 70 for example. 1st gear is longer and the turbo is easer to keep off boost, so overall economy and drive-ability is improved!!
We had a RR session just to check everything is OK with the engine and its tune and all is OK, from 100RPM all the way up to just over 4000 RPM its Lambda 1 and over 4K its only a little bit higher but thats to be expected as its a turbo car - can't argue with that. Remembering I have no Cats at all this engine is running cleanly and efficiently. happy days.
We have set the boost up at 280BHP so its not running at the limit of what's available from the CT26 tubby, purely for safety, 301 BHP is only a boost increase on the EBC. Still beats most other cars on the motorway!! still very happy with it, especially now the roads are that much dryer.
So back to the IS200 ratios ? That's the trouble with playing with the final drive, it sounds good on paper for helping your acceleration, but there's a big cost in terms of higher revs !
Your not wrong there - the Auto IS200 actually used the diff ratio I have just removed. They are very complex things and not with playing with unless your name is Wayne and know what your on about!!
Marsdendean Phil, i don't mean to be "rude" but can i ask what is the point in going down the 3S200 GTE route, when you only can really run around 300BHP and be near the limit, and all the trouble you have had.
I was just thinking the other day wouldn't it be easier to go down Stav's route but a big single turbo??
BTW: Don't think i am being rude in anyway, i was just wondering what the benefits are, or if its just a case of "i've done it"!!

as far as im aware yeah
The 3SGTE is in all essence a 4 cylinder race bread engine many tuners call it a short block 2JZGTE. It is capable of insane BHP - upwards of 600 if you have the £'s to throw away on a car.
With a bigger tubby mine should be capable of 350 on standard internals and with forged people have seen 550+ in road legal MR2's 700 in drag cars - however getting that sort of power down onto the road in a road legal MR2 is not easy so most people stop at 400. The build of a 350BHP+ 3SGTE is the same (just about) whether you want 350 or 550, its all down to tuning.
