Awesome news Phil, you must be so pleased, well done to SPC for doing a proper job on it !
Wish I could but we don't get Sat's off:Sulk:
At last a photo of my car!!
But it appears it has some IS200 "friends" parked next to it - in BHP order:w00t:
We could play guess the BHP game, but these cars are so well known it would be pointless:lol:
Nice, your car is in good company there !
When do you get it back Phil, this week ? What's still to be done ?
Lots to be done still:angry: All correcting TGT's mistakes and short cutting.
The gearbox was mounted without putting the dowel plugs in to keep it in line, so the old gearbox was able to move on its axes, only the gap that the bolt holes allowed but more than enough to probably cause the main input bearing (and oil seals) to fail as there was nothing there to keep it in alignment. The new clutch I put in a few months ago was soaked in gearbox oil so thats fried also, the dyno run pointed at a slipping clutch - is there more power?????
The replacement Altezza 'box casing is different to the IS200 one so completely new mounts are being made up to hold it - this also means the prop needs re-making and it showed an alignment issue with the original engine mounts - they are well out. The power steering motor TGT welded to my chassis (yea you read that correctly) apart from making a horrendous noise all the time needs to be moved, or got rid off and a Celica GT4 power steering bracket and pump put in to make room for the new starter motor.
I have loads of photos, from Wayne and every point and issue is photographed so there is no question of what had to be done and why things had to be done.
I really really need it this weekend, otherwise I have to get a hire car for Sat/Sun - something I don't want to do.
Wow, that sounds like a load of work still, good job that you're getting it all put right !
Sounds like they've put in the motor from the MR2 which is a really odd idea considering there's an off-the-shelf pump that fits perfectly. Also the MR2 motor only really works properly with the MR2 ECU cause it needs speedo pulses, steering wheel position pulses, and all sorts to the P/S ECU (which is seperate)... might be why yours is making complaining noises if it has (for example) been wired up to run all the time.
The power steering pump location on the GT4 IIRC is where the alternator is mounted on the MR2 (and therefore the brackets & belts are different) so you might need to relocate that if you go for a GT4 PS setup. Unfortunately in your case, the alternator location on the GT4 is more or less where your turbo is... sounds like SPC are in for fun times ahead!
