I'd also get a Kenwood if I were going to do this. I wanted the 8019 as it has a higher number of inputs outputs and higher volt preouts than anything they've made since. You can't get them much here though as they were US only so they have to be shipped over, region freed and have the FM bands changed. That can all be done in the states cheap as chips before it's shipped but there are few sellers willing to do that these days.
If I were doing it I'd look out for one of the earlier ones (like a 7200) which can be picked up cheap (like less than half price) and can then have the bluetooth functionality added on. Did you know that the Kenwood units use Parrot bluetooth as well, not their own system (so it's likely to work very well). I also wouldn't get one of the ones with the dial on the front (5xxx series) as what's the point of having all that real estate and not filling it up with a screen
Oh and if you buy one that doesn't have TMC, you can buy the garmin TMC addon box for waaay less than the Kenwood one, and it's the same part.

both are 2007 model range..
ddx is still a current model prefix and just indicates, as u said, non nav,
8019 is pretty much the 8220 without nav/bt, or its more bigger brother as i like to think! it wasnt released in the US with nav at all.. only the 7200 which was the 7100..
anyway we digress!!
whatever you choose, my advice would be a kenwood.. if you shop around you may find one of the 08/09 ranges cheaper due to being discontinued..
the 7200 is a great unit.. as is its successor the 7240.
