toxo Sounds like they've put in the motor from the MR2 which is a really odd idea considering there's an off-the-shelf pump that fits perfectly. Also the MR2 motor only really works properly with the MR2 ECU cause it needs speedo pulses, steering wheel position pulses, and all sorts to the P/S ECU (which is seperate)... might be why yours is making complaining noises if it has (for example) been wired up to run all the time.

The power steering pump location on the GT4 IIRC is where the alternator is mounted on the MR2 (and therefore the brackets & belts are different) so you might need to relocate that if you go for a GT4 PS setup. Unfortunately in your case, the alternator location on the GT4 is more or less where your turbo is... sounds like SPC are in for fun times ahead!

All the complex bits have been removed and the pump is on all the time. I wonder if the aircon pump can be removed as I rarely use that and a PS pump put there instead?

Confusedhock:

Don't get rid of your aircon !

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

!!!!

Confusedhock:

Mine doesn't disengage until 80mph (stock disengagement point is 50mph but mine gets confused by my speedo converter) and that's scary as f**k!

2tongues I wonder if the aircon pump can be removed as I rarely use that and a PS pump put there instead?

Don't see why not. Your MR2 crank pulley will have 2 belt points on it, and the aircon pump has an incredibly adjustable tensioner pulley on it, unlike the alternator which just has a pivoting bracket.

As per toyodiy:
VP = power steering pump
AL = alternator
IP = idler pulley
CK = crank
CC = aircon pump

Viewed as though you were looking from the front of the car.

MR2: (This is how I guess yours is done up at the moment)

Celica:

Hope that makes sense?

Don't get rid of your aircon !

TGT broke the filler pipe and at nearly £800 to replace (fitted, gassed etc by Lexus) I can't see that happening any-time soon.

£800 my ****, you fill the aircon from the low pressure side of the system so the filler is the L valve in the engine bay. The pipe is under £200 (including valve and a few o-rings) and £25 to do a full presure test and regas. If your car is pre 2001 the pipe is about £50!

My car is 2005. I let Lexus quote and the whole pipe is 200+ vat, + 5 hours fitting = £650+vat = £747.50 this year and £763.75 next year due to the VAT increase. Ouch. Then again TGT broke it so I think I will add this to the list........................
