Lexus IS200 Turbo - Adding a personal touch
I know there is lots of mixed press on doing this to a turbo. And some just don't like it (stock / ceramic bladed ones especially). but I know of people running this setup for years with no issues.
cant edit my posts,meh.
Have you done anything like this before Stav? is it just the bearings that people have concerns over? or are other parts likely to fail?
Matt
You nee to talk to the turbo manufacturer and see if heir turbo can withstand that sort of abuse. the SPC Horsham test car ran without a BOV an I think it was the same turbo, so there is a chance it will be OK.
If it was me there is no way I would take the chance, a £1000+ turbo is not a cheap thing to play Russian roulette with - just for the sake of some different noise.
No I haven't mate.
I've even got an anti surge housing to prevent it completely.

Plum it into the exhaust like it's legally meant to be?
most modern turbo cars will make that noise just by fitting an induction kit..one of our customers with a starlet likes the noise but also knows of the lag that happens due to this so his fix was buying a hks bov and putting a stronger spring in it..so afound town it flutters but when hes giving it the shoe it dumps...
Hey Ormi. I was talking with a friend at work today and was wondering if something like that was possible. At least this way it can flutter when needed, but when really giving in the large (and high pressure) it can vent safely
