Run some snowfoam through the engine is my suggestion. Made my car a lot more willing to start first time (well up until i changed the injectors, now the car gags on fuel when I start)

whoops (obsessed with cleaning). Sea foam is what I mean:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Seafoam-Inject...336a1d188c

Its not just 'another' injector cleaner though. Its some really good stuff. Basically you dump half in the fuel tank, and the other half you get the car to 'inhale' through a vacuum source.

EDIT:

Nah I'd deffo avoid doing the oil. For one, you need to change the oil after doing it. And for two, we've got old(ish) cars, some of which might well be held together with crusty old oil deposits.

Just ordered a tin, will update on any changes when I've run it through.

What vacuum source did you tip it in?

iirc I disconnected the one that goes to the power steering. Basically put half if the seafoam in a cup and let the engine sip at it slowly through the vacuum. Don't let it guzzle it or the car will stall. Once it's drank it all, switch off the car, empty the rest into the gas tank, And let the car sit for about 30 mins.

When you start the car up again be prepared to put your whole street under a thick cloud of smoke.

Would it be easier to just put half of it into a spray bottle, and just spray it into straight into the intake as a mist?

Or is it better to put it in a vaccum line?

I would go vaccum personally - purely because I'd imagine there to be less for the fluid to cling to on its way into the engine (inside of the intake, throttle butterfly,...etc).

Its also probably quicker. It'll suck up the contents in about 30 seconds, even sipping it.
