My little project - IS200 Turbo
My little project - IS200 Turbo
Best of luck Steve. The SPC demo car has a great look to it apart from all the burn marks from the previous owner  It also generates more power than mine boost for boost but thats a new thread I think.
Going off to start a new thread...........................................................
Given the power I'm aiming at, I could probably stay on the standard engine internals. So this next set of items is probably in the "optional" rather than "essential" category. However, again my decision was based more on my aims for reliability, and not taking chances with this car (given it's my daily driver).
I decided that I needed to get new engine internals, certainly rods at the minimum. There are several aftermarket options available, but they're all very expensive.
Instead, I managed to source a used 1G-GTE engine (same one as Stav has in his car) from a Mark III Supra for the bargain price of £200 !
I plan to use the internals from this engine in my own engine (1G-FE), probably just the rods and the pistons too.
I feel that this will give me a margin of safety, and I won't need to worry about my internals being close to the limit.

JUN lightweight flywheel. Again definitely not essential for this sort of conversion. Why have I got one ? A couple of reasons really. The main one is that I get juddering from my clutch/flywheel, so I thought that given my engine is coming out anyway (for new internals), I might as well change the clutch/flywheel at the same time to try and fix the juddering. Also, although the OEM clutch would almost certainly be fine with the bhp I'm aiming for, given that I have no idea of its age (probably the original one), more power might hasten its demise.
I picked the JUN lightweight flywheel not because of its lightweight nature, but because it's a lot cheaper than the Lexus OEM dual-mass flywheel, and hopefully it's less likely to judder (and being a solid flywheel should be able to be skimmed if it does develop a problem).
Check out the amusingly-badly-translated English description on the box ...

Helix uprated (stage 1) organic clutch plate and cover (yes, I do have a new release bearing as well to go with these) :
steviewevie Turbo manifold from SPC Horsham (a work of art IMHO). The flang(e) (sorry, the swear filter thinks that's a naughty word lol) is for a GT30 turbo, so either an adapter or a new flang(e) will need to accomodate the GT2560R (probably will be an adapter) :

How's your car Sam ? Feel free to start up your own thread on it ?
SPC Horsham sell the manifolds on eBay, £795 plus delivery.
