it would still be cheaper to buy an IS300, even if you got a 2jz for free.

As said it really depends on what power you are after to what direction you take

personally i wouldnt even dream of wasting my time with the 2jz-ge with its stock power being so small for such a large cc engine, and ive seen them dyno lower than the quoted 225bhp too.

either go for a 2jz gte or a 1jz-gte, or even better try and source a 2jz bottom end and a 1jz-gte head and make a 1.5jz-gte, the stock 1jz turbos will run out of steam at 1.2bar which will equate to around the 330-345bhp mark though but that is ****** quick even in a mk3 Supra TTR that weighs alot more than a is.

Just my opinion though, either charge your engine or get a turbo block straight away

yeah indeed, no doubt but i am just saying "if" he wants to keep the 200 then to buy a n/a 2jz would be insane in my eyes for such minimal bhp.

as you say, the cheapest and easiest would be going straight for a 300, but then i agree with what he is thinking as ofte the most easy isnt the most fun.

i suppose it all depends how much money he has to do the thing.

You say that, people spend £2.5k on superchargers that net them a 50bhp increase...

true, i suppose its what they want out of the car, personally if i were to spend 2.5k i would want a minimum of near 100bhp gain, if the 1jz or 2jz is in the price bracket i think they are superb engines and would make a hell of a machine and both are easily taken upto 400-500bhp with not too much effort.

but then where do you stop?
