fitting the sandwich plate with an OEM size oil filter you will have problem with space. There is not enough space to fit an OEM size oil filter. I know this from my Mocal oil cooler which comes with a sanwich plate. There was no space to fit an OEM oil filter, so I had to fit an oil filter half the size in length.

After a lot of search I ended up with HKS oil filter for a 2JZGTE engine. It has the half lenght from OEM. You just have to check that the diameter of the filter will fit on your sandwich plate and there will be no oil leakage.

Have you just just pushed it in to the holder, or removed the black rubber seal, slid that down the neck of the pump then pushed it in?

The inlet and outlet are on the same side yes (though opposite ends)?
