Is200 turbo
Is200 turbo
Right I've decided to convert my car to turbo, wot are the basic parts I need to run standard internals until I find some forged pistons or 1g-gte internals.
Where do I take all the feeds from for the turbo and can I still use the vvti?.
I just need a shopping list to collect all the parts ,I know the manifold will be the hardest bit to get hold off.
Would the standard engine cope with 300bhp if not wot sort of figure would I be looking at?

1) standard internals will be pot luck above 280, provided you sort the cooling out, you should be okay around the 300 mark. It really is luck of the draw, some people cook their engines at this power, others don't. Probably more down to the tune than anything else.
2) vvti works fine. See comment about having a good tune.
3) get a manifold made. 3" down pipe etc.
4) shopping list:
Fuel pump
Fpr and return line are optional but advised
Turbo
Manifold
Oil lines
Boost controller (optional)
Bigger injectors
Spark plugs
Piggyback/after market ECU
Intercooler
Tune/mapping
Exhaust
Induction
I've priced up a cheapo build and I will need at least 4500 quid, probably more than that.
Pretty comprehensive reply there.
Oil feed can be taken from vvti solenoid and returned to the sump
For that sort of money I could change to a v8 or 1jz couldn't i?
I've got a mr2 turbo where the shell is not much good will that fit in easy enough or is that just as much work.

It doesn't matter what turbo you go for, you will need to get a manifold made. There were a few knocking about on eBay a while back but I've not seen one for over a year.
Engine conversion money will be more than that. You will still need the fuel pump, custom exhaust, ideally an after market ECU and then all the fab work. You will need a custom prop for engine swaps, then you have the wiring to worry about. Unless you can do it all yourself expect to spend 8000+ on an engine swap.
I can do most of the work myself it's just wiring I get stuck on and specialist items like prop and manifolds etc

Sam B did it himself and it ended up owing him a lot more than 4500. Engine swaps are not cheap. If you want a jz engine, get an is300 and do an na-T conversion.
If I go down the is300 route is it easy to convert to manual?

If you have a look at my build thread ive not had mine rolling roaded and mine runs ok at 0,6psi so as for a shopping list bare minimum youd need and what im mainly running

down pipe
turbo
oil flow return I can make the tap from the vvti banjo
water lines
one of patriks black boxes
fpr and return line I have read about some supercharged cars running standard set up so for low 200bhps
an your away one turboed car
