So a lot of you will remember me mentioning at JAE that my clutch was slipping and that I couldn't really use the car very well... So I decided to get it sorted!
So I decided to go for a Competition Clutch Stage 2, with new flywheel...
Had them fitted and all seemed good....Then after a couple of weeks there were some bad vibrations and resonance starting to occur. Well this got really bad, like it was shaking the car to pieces, in particular at 2000-3000rpm.
Took it back to the garage, and they told me to stop driving it straight away to prevent any unnecessary damage. I left it with them for investigation as they said it was all the signs of something being out of balance. (That is how it felt to me also).
So it all came apart again, where it was found that there were considerable high/hot spots around approx. a third of the edge of the pressure plate...
So defective clutch kit basically.... Which is a shame, as until that point the clutch was great, lightweight under foot, good bite etc...
Competition Clutch refunded me with no issues...
I didn't go for the same clutch again, as I had lost trust in it and the whole process has been rather expensive for me (2 x labour), and certainly didn't want this happening again!
So, it now has an Exedy Organic fitted, with no issues or resonance at all... Very similar feel to the competition clutch - So far, so good!
A ball ache of a process, but all seems to be good now.
On a different note, I have front poly ARB and lower suspension arm bushes sat in my garage waiting to go on the car, next job!
Shame about the clutch but seems like good customer service from competition.
Can't fault the customer service really, resolved fairly quickly. The main pain is the 2 lots of labour costs. However, CC are looking into giving some of that back to me as well, so we will see! Fingers crossed.
No other plans mate; just get the bushes fitted and keep it tidy!
