Bandit Bet your dying to really open her up and see how it goes, or have you allready :w00t:

The funny thing is, when i took my boys out in it around town, i did try to open her up but the wastgate keeps opening to soon, " and im like why the f** is that opening that quick" so any way the last 2-3 days i was starting her up reving the nuts out of it and the wastgate opens at about 3000rpm, but i could not hear the BOV, so i start to play around with the vac/lines and it seem,s the one i had the BOV connected to is not working? ( well it works but not all that well) so i swap it over to one that i had caped of and now the wastgate dont open untill about 4500RPM and when i let go theres a nice big sound from the BOV now as well ( but dont forget i have no boost controller connected yet) so i can not hold the boost, but it should still be fun:tongue_smilie:

wastgate is set to open at 10psi

I have not taken it out yet to see what it is like, as for the past 3 days its been raining here....:crying:

Your going to be in for some serious fun when you do open it up :w00t:

If its anything like mine the rear will break traction in the wet or the dry and for some reason it gives you quite a big smile

Got to have a look at my fueling as i/ve just done 16miles and it cost me £10 in fuel Confusedhock: Have a feeling its the silicone hoses i've fitted to the engine, as before it was ok, but since they have been on the fueling has gone terrible? so not sure if there too soft for vacuum lines and there closing up under pressure??

So might fit the oem set again to see if it makes a difference? cant see what else it could be as the rest is still the same as it was before? God help me when i turn up the boost Confusedcared:

Interesting that you're having problems with water pumps. Are you using original Toyota/Lexus pumps? We have had some guys doing engine swaps on MR2s and once you change the water system around it can put additional strain on the water pump (certainly in the MR2 there is further to pump the water, more water, etc). The pattern pumps people are fitting from motor factors are not up to the job. Admittedly this is with the 3.0 V6 engine.

Are you using the original radiator for the engine or is it a larger capacity/thicker? I assume with the turbo mounted directly next to the radiator the water temps are through the roof. I'd be putting SPAL fans on the radiator (you will probably create big problems with having the fan on the FRONT of the radiator as it causes an obstruction to natural airflow) and look at what temperature your thermostat is opening at. TRD thermostats open at lower temperatures which could be also useful in your situation, just to get things circulating quicker.

Hi john, The thing is with the engine, it had been sitting for along time, and i should have replaced the pump to start with:mad: not only that i did not have it set up the same way as it use to be in the LS400, where as now i have put it back to the way it was before i pulled the engine from the LS400, and all seems to be ok, as for the fan thats the only place i have room for it, but i will be moveing the oilcooler to a new place and then i will fit a 2nd fan in its place, The same with the turbo it has to go there as on the IS200 there is not much room and thats the best place for it, i do have a heatshield round it now where as before i did not have one , I think the thermostat opens at around 70.oC the fan is not linked to it in any way i can turn it on & off when i likeWink so before i go any where i turn it on.

This weekend will be the 1st run it would of had, but then it looks nice today out so i may take it out today just to make sure all is 100% ok:biggrin:

OK. My point still stands about the water pumps you're using. These are 2 pumps for the 3VZ-FE:

Note the difference in impeller design. Left hand one is blueprint (Toyota is the same) right hand one is QH.

Not all water pumps are created equal :thumbup1:

I'm just going by how they look here. The right hand one looks a lot stronger, but the left hand one seems to have *much* bigger vanes, and even though it has slightly less vanes than the one on the right, it looks like the one on the left would have a better flow ? I could be totally wrong of course.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

You're pretty much bang on. Both work fine in a Camry but when you put them in an MR2 the one on the right doesn't flow enough due to the impellor design. QH don't see it as a problem because their pump works just fine in a Camry which is what it was designed for, but I would assume that the wheel is a semi-standard part that's used on a variety of pumps.

Of course you don't run into these problems if you buy genuine :thumbup1:

Thread hijack over Smile I hope the car goes well this weekend, don't wanna be stuck in a tunnel trying to get water back into it!! I've had to do that in Rouen in a friends car before...
