The 1G-FE does have a variable length inlet manifold too though. It's plastic, and has a valve which is initially closed but opens at a certain point to lengthen the inlet tract. T-VIS sounds very similar.

This is the part which Almost Finished has changed on his car, because it was a limiting factor. But then he's pushing much higher bhp levels than me.

Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

Ah OK - I'd expect ACIS rather than T-VIS but they are very similar. Toyota did away with it in later MR2 engines because it was unreliable and didn't help the power curve at all. I presume they have improved it since!

Yep, ACIS is exactly what it is (Acoustic Control Induction System).

So anyway, back to my original point which is that it doesn't really serve a useful purpose on FI engines Smile Toyota themselves removed it from their later turboed engines!

Out of interest, how well is a plastic inlet manifold going to cope with turbo intake temps? I would presume it won't be that big of a deal and that Charlesworth will have a much better idea about the effects than me Smile but if you were to heatsoak your intercooler up to 70+ degrees it might not be too happy Big Grin Plus isn't it bolted directly to the head which will be a much hotter place with FI than N/A... or does the ACIS valve act as a phenolic gasket?

Edit: Sorry if I sound like I'm trying to find holes in your plan - I'm not, I'm just very interested in the build!!

I don't know what a phenolic gasket is Big Grin but Charlesworth don't think it's going to be a problem. As you mention, I've got an intercooler so I can't imagine the air going through the intake manifold is going to be that hot, otherwise I'm going to have a big problem anyway !

Phenolic gasket is an insulating gasket to stop the heat generated from combustion from heating up the inlet manifold in an attempt to lower intake temperatures a bit more.

I shall let you know if I have any more questions Smile I have suffered terribly from heatsoak with my intercooler, that's why I got rid of it and went for chargecooling instead. But a bay with a 3S-GTE in it is a VERY hot place so you shouldn't suffer too bad!

I've just been trying to find out the part numbers of the electrical connector for the fuel injectors for an Altezza SXE10 (i.e. with 4-cylinder 3S-GE), since this is the car those injectors are designed to plug straight into - so presumably it has the connectors I need. This is only a fallback, I'm still hopeful that the existing connectors from the 1G-GTE donor engine will work too.

I've found the part number for a 1G-FE but can't find it for a GTE. (can't find it on Toyodiy).

I spoke to Lexus/Toyota but they wanted the frame code for the car to be able to progress it. This is the Japanese equivalent of a VIN. Now I don't have one of course, since I don't have a Tezza ! But I did a bit of Googling, found a suitable frame code and gave it to Lexus/Toyota and am waiting for them to get back to me !

Good luck with getting the electrical connectors, even my Toyota parts guy struggles with those. There used to be *3* books required to look up *1* connector (from its silhouette), and since they went completely digital with their parts catalogue that information is very hard to find.
