I only replaced the head gasket because the engine was being taken apart anyway. Similarly, the oil seals for the crankshaft were replaced for the same reason.

Quick update - the engine is now rebuilt and is going back in the car. Currently waiting for the intercooler piping to arrive.

Great news.

Sorry to hear about the delays but I'm guessing even if you had it back you'd probably prefer to be in the runaround in this weather!

ok, another update. Plenty of snow up at Charlesworth. To give you a picture of how much there is, they had a Smart car in the yard which was being scrapped, and just for a bit of fun, some of the boys buried it in the snow ! So that's been playing havoc with deliveries.

Anyway, my engine is still waiting to go back into the car. They've got the metal intercooler piping now, oil lines etc, plus the new Goodridge brake lines. The only think we're waiting for now is the silicone hose pieces to join the new intercooler piping. Oh, and a banjo bolt for the oil feed which is being made up. Once the piping arrives, the engine will go back in and it will all be connected up.

The turbo manifold now effectively has a new flang(e) which is the correct size for my turbo. They have made up some bracing so not all the weight of the turbo will be on the manifold.

They reckon there's about a week's work to do then the car will be ready to go off to Noble for mapping, which they estimate will take 2-3 days. The base map from Sam's car can be used (Noble mapped that one too), then they can fine tune mine to suit.

To answer an earlier question, the oil feed for the turbo is being taken from a pipe which comes out of the passenger side of the engine to feed up to the VVT-i mechanism.

They will be open for a few days between Xmas and the New Year, so hopefully I will find out more then.
