How big is the stock MAP sensor, you're not maxing that out are you? It would need to be at least a 2.5BAR MAP sensor to cope with what you're doing to it. (1 BAR is sea level, then for arguments sake 1.2 BAR boost, plus room for manoever, atmospheric changes etc). They do VERY weird things when they go over their limit, I know the stock Toyota sensor on my car doesn't work reliably at its top end.

If that were the case, surely they can just use any old GM MAP sensor? Standalone EMS is usually configurable enough to use a generic pressure sensor, and seeing as GReddy went bust last year I'd have thought getting a specific sensor could be problematic?

You will get to a point where the injectors are large enough that the fuel lines, FPR, fuel rail and fuel pump become restrictive. Doesn't happen on the '2 as the injectors are 540cc as standard so the stock kit works for big power but I know yours are smaller.

we use the AEM FIC,that has a internal map sensor.

I don't know the top-end bhp figure. I'm not so interested in that, since I'm after driveability, but I am trying to find out if they've got a figure for it.

As for the OEM MAP sensor, Noble say it can easily cope with my turbo and has plenty of headroom.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

you can only run up to 0.3bar with the std map sensor.

Noble have been running my car with the OEM MAP sensor and more boost than that, so I'm not sure that you can be correct :confused1:

toxo seeing as GReddy went bust last year I'd have thought getting a specific sensor could be problematic?

I think that the rumours of GReddy's demise were exaggerated/misunderstood. For example, see this press release, they're still going.

Dave Ellen's original IS200 turbo used the stock MAP sensor as far as I can tell, and ran over 0.3 bar of boost. Pretty sure some other turbos have too. Also pretty sure that some people have pushed their superchargers over 0.3 bar on the stock MAP sensor.

Sams is on standard MAP I think.

Gord They had the same problem when they mapped the MR2 turbo, Dave Ellen told them that it defo 100% needed bigger injectors, in the end stock injectors worked 100% better, and to this day the MR2 still running stock injectors

Possibly slightly different as MR2 turbo (especially 1994+) injectors are HUGE as standard, nearly 200cc more than an S14 of the same age for example. The engine management in the '2 runs incredibly rich as a result (10:1 AFR *stock* on boost) as a retarded way of trying to protect the engine.
