My little project - IS200 Turbo
Its the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor which works out what pressure the air coming into the engine is at - which along with RPM and Air Intake Temp works out how much fuel to put in I believe.
MAP sensor measures the air pressure coming into the engine (Manifold Absolute Pressure). So it's how the engine knows how much air is coming in (obviously important so that it can calculate how much fuel to put in to get the correct air/fuel ratio).
The alternative system that a lot of cars use is called MAF (Mass Air Flow), which measures the quantity of air flowing through the intake, for the same purpose.
It's just two different ways of measuring how much air is coming in, either via the pressure of the air (MAP) or the volume of flow past a certain point (MAF).
Edit - Ed beat me to it lol.
2tongues Sams is on standard MAP I think.

I bet thats a handful to drive:thumbup1:
steviewevie I don't know the top-end bhp figure. I'm not so interested in that, since I'm after driveability, but I am trying to find out if they've got a figure for it.
As for the OEM MAP sensor, Noble say it can easily cope with my turbo and has plenty of headroom.

I'm confused about the whole stock MAP sensor thing now. Trying to get more info on this from Charlesworth/Noble. Given I had the info third hand, it's possible that something has got confused along the way.
Hmm, ok, all has become clear now.
Looks like some crossed wires before, because Noble say the stock MAP sensor only works up to about 0.5 bar, which is what some of you have said.
So I've ordered a GReddy MAP sensor (up to 3 bar). I'm a bit perplexed at how this has managed to fall through the cracks, because no-one seems to have realised that I needed one up till now. Oh well. Ordered one off eBay for £100, and I will send it straight to Noble.
Think we will probably stick with the OEM injectors still, though if they do get to the stage where they max out, we'll have to go with the uprated ones.
Pretty frustrated because it was so close to being finished. And Easter being in the middle isn't really going to help.
:Sulk:
Edit - Sam's does have a GReddy MAP sensor.
Gutted for you mate, I know exactly how your feeling. But if a job is worth doing etc etc.
