steviewevie It might just be a coincidence, but see page 49 of this section of the technical description of the 2JZ-GE engine. It seems that at 4300 rpm the inlet manifold shape/length is automatically changed (to help torque etc).

A very similar feature exists on the IS200 too.

I wonder if it's possible this hesitation is "normal" because of this change ? Or maybe the valve that operates to change the inlet manifold at these revs isn't working smoothly or something ?

I don't know how you find all this stuff out Steve but it's impressive Smile

It does sound possible and quite like what I am experiencing, I'm gonna do some tests this weekend looking into this side of things!

Cheers Bud

I have been driving my IS300 this weekend and found the following whilst using e-shift gear selection.

ECT PWR disabled and gears selected 4 and 5 - There is continual power in rev range until circa 4.5k rpm and then there is about 2 second hesitation in power - there is no speed loss, but no power increase. The power then continues through to red line on rev range in both gears. I did not notice power hesitation in gears 2 and 3.

ECT PWR enabled - There is continual power thorugh rev range is all available gears and I did not notice any power hesitation.

That sounds interesting, I am going to go and try it again and see, it may be the hesitation that I am noticing and confusing for power loss, mainly because the K&N makes quite a noise so the sound changes.

When you have the ECT PWR enabled is that with the light on the dash on?

thanks for your help bud :thumbup1:
