Had a little trip down to the Nürburgring a couple of weeks ago. Had a nice trip down, by ferry from Oslo-Kiel, a day in Hamburg on the miniature Museum: http://www.miniatur-wunderland.com/
Can certainly strongly recommend that!

The first evening on the ring, we had rented a Suzuki Swift! http://www.rent-racecar.de/english/index.htm
Very nice people at the company, helpful and talkative. Since we were novices on the ring, we got an information lap in a VW Touran 2.0TDi first. We all know well how they run with Transit down there, so can not say I was disappointed when I heard what car it was and the driver had 9000laps + + on the ring. It was a flat out from the first moment, and he drove past the cars and bikes from the first corner. As he explained the best line, braking point, what we had to look after, etc. .. Not to forget when he drove by a Porsche 911 on the outside of a sharp turn, as he turned to the back seat and explained what a fool he was in Porsche, and pointing at the "dot" in the outside of the corner I had to hit...

We didn't drive the Swift so hard, but there were many who felt the pressure around the track that night! An English Audi S3 of newer model year trying desperately to get rid of me, without success, he who sat in with me was pale and affordable carsick after the round (Do not know why... :lolSmile.

Noticed a Lexus LFA in the parking lot and went over to talk to the driver. He was the nicest man ever! He could tell that the LFA he had there was one of the two latest-generation prototypes, but that I unfortunately could not sit me in the car :Sulk: talked to him a good while, and he quickly noticed that it was Toyota and Lexus who were closest to the heart, so he told us of a reasonable special gathering a little further north: http://www.schloss-dyck-classic-days.de/
Without going too much into detail, he could tell that they should have some reasonable rare cars there. We quickly decided to drop the VLN long distance race that would go on the ring Saturday, and go up there. We did not regret that for a second!
They had collected no less than 9(!) 2000GT, plus a lot of other fine cars on Toyota's stand. The white 2000GT'en was 100% original with hardly 37.000km on the counter, looked brand new!
To not mention the various old rally cars, Audi, super rare Auto Union race cars, etc. ..
May well be compared to be a mini "Goodwood Festival of Speed", and was held for 5 years now.

Offcourse I tested the IS200on the ring too, and must say that it behaved very good! When I now look at how the car behaves with TTE springs and Bilstein dampers (otherwise stock), I do honestly not understand why people invest in coilovers .... The car sits very well and was well balanced during brakig and turns. Drove from various M3 and porsche that did not hang on in corners. I had not enough power on the straights to hang on the most powerful cars, as I'm struggling hard with heat-Soak... So a bigger IC for next time. Had 205km/h on the GPS in the IS200, before I ran out of clear road, not quite top speed but close enough for me Big Grin
(was banging on the rev limiter in 5th in the Swift to places on the track)

Next time it will be guaranteed to fly down and rent a swift for a weekend. The trip down was frankly too long that I can stand it, but it is perhaps forgotten next year :thumbup1: (I guaranteed said the same in the last year)

But, maybe some pictures fit well. All taken with Canon EOS 550d, and one decent sigma lens. Moreover, no editing besides a little crop here and there.
