Charger killed my cat?
Charger killed my cat?
I'm trying to find out what exhaust setup other supercharged is200 owners are running. At the moment i'm running a de-cated manifold with a 200cel sports cat.I'm runing the 130mm pulley with an induction kit at the moment. Only thing is the cat is 3 months old, charger has only been fitted for 2 months but last week the EML come on,with code P0420:catalyst system effieiency below threshold. Which means the cat is ****ed. I've only done about 1500 miles in it too. When charger was fitted everything was fine, emissions were fine, but now instead of emissions being under 0.3 its at 0.8. When i had the cat fitted i told them what i was planing to do to the car, they said it would work fine.Obviously Not. Any help would be great, cheers
They're saying it's my fault for putting a supercharger on, but i can't see it myself. I would of put the old one back on but they kepted that aswell. Been back up there once already but they had no intension of fixing it. I can't even get one from the scrappies ,cause as soon as i start playing round with it they've got a reason not to pay up.
I thought i was going to see a ***** cat stuck in your charger belt lol
That would be a nightmare to clean up after, all that fur and claws everywhere.
I know that removing the pre-cats would reduce the effiencey of the exhaust system, but it just passed it's MOT with the standard cat fitted and the de-cated manifold so i know it was running ok. Can't see the charger making that much of a difference on the emissions side?. Does anyone know how many cells the standard post-cat has?
Did you pay with a credit card? You may dispute the charge if you did. I'm not sure but if you did then it would be worth speaking to your card issuer. Failing that, you have recourse through the small claims court under sale of goods act. Pretty simple procedure really. Look up your local court and get the necessary forms.
The Supercharger causing the cat to fail is a pretty lame excuse. Who manufacturers these Cats? I'm sure they would dispute his claim.
Them cats are used with turbo cars so for it to fail with a charger is a faulty unit.
