High pitched whistling noise from charger inlet.
High pitched whistling noise from charger inlet.
Hi every one, I've just completed my supercharger conversion on my is200, everything's working well I'm getting 4psi and she pulls well, I however have this incredibly annoying whistling noise on part throttle sounds like it's leaking boost through a small hole but it's not,
I closed off the bypassvalve on tick over and it will make the noise then as it starts to build boost slightly, I removed the air filter, noise still there, all the pipework to charger inlet, still there!
Now I'm stumped, anyone else have this problem? Makes the car sound rediculous and is sooo ****** loud!
Any help would be great,
ATB steve

Il get one tomorrow but how do I upload it, computers ain't my thing :bored:
No mate, the charger has started rumbling so I removed it today and just stripped it down.
Ok I don't have to worry about the whistle anymore because after the charger rebuild it was running sweet, 15 miles later it committed suicide! So it's now been removed.
Oh dear, what caused the failure?

It seems that the rotors have moved on the shaft and drilled their way into the housing and wrecked the needle bearings and chewed the case to bits, there a poor design really as everything is just pressed on to the shaft and the needle bearings have no seat to keep them where they need to be.
I never removed or moved the rotors so I'm puzzled to how they have moved.... well only one has moved and the gears are still timed up and the shaft hasn't moved either.
O well these things are sent to try us, also had rear discs go on the same outing then my jack burst when I went to jack it up! Wtf! Ha ha
Match and some petrol any one?
