Hi all,

I have a IS200 with 67000 miles on clock, gearbox has just developed a knocking sound while in gear 3,4,5 & 6. Noise gets worse as load/speed is increased. There is no knocking sound while in 1st or 2nd gear.
Anybody else had this problem? I have searched web and havent found anything saying these gearboxes give bearing failure.

Thanks

I wouldn't say it's had a hard life at all. It was owned by a old man that bought it new

Have you check the oil? Condition and level?

Yes checked oil level it is correct.oil was used looking but didn't contain filings and apart from usual bit on magnetic drain plug.
bearing failure doesn't seem to be common in these by sound of it?
