Speedfreek's IS200 Project
Speedfreek's IS200 Project
So after owning a selection of Skylines, Eunos Roadsters and other assorted Jap cars, I decided it was about time to satisfy a long standing hankering for an IS200.
Before I get to the start of my build thread, I will show you a bit of history of the cars I have had, a few of my favourites so you can see where I am going with this car perhaps.
First up is my baby that I lost blood, sweat and tears over - should NEVER have sold it on
Then came my first and favourite Skyline - another car I shouldn't have sold
Finally, though there were lots more, my first Lexus - though I can't take credit for building this beauty!
Aside from the Lexus above, I prefer to mod my cars as simply as possible - less is more in my opinion - and that's the view I want to keep with the IS.
I bought her like this - completely standard. She is an SE navigator - albeit without the SE front bumper (due to a shunt with the previous owner!)
The stereo was shagged in the car, so I got myself a nice Sony media player (USB / bluetooth / Iphone / Ipod control) and brodit iphone holder. Along with a set of infinity front and rear speakers and a self made OEM sat nav fix - it looked like this...
This is when I REALLY caught the bug again. I ordered myself a LOVELY set of Work Emotion CR Kai's for the car - but alas the ofset was wrong and they didn't fit! So a set of replica, but no less lovely, Rota Torques were ordered in Bronze - with a set of anodized blue valve stems (blue nuts on order ) And also I ordered a black sport grille and got some chargespeed brake ducts from a fellow outlaw... this is how she stands as of today.
Watch this space... there will be LOTS more to come I'm sure!!
looks good mate, a good start
Very nice selection of cars you have had there mate, what was the Mazda pushing out? Was thinking of having one as a track car one day
Thanks chaps.
The Mazda was bought With half a turbo kit which I finished, and then got bored and supercharged it. Which I then got bored of and itb'd it. Was running 140bhp ish on itbs but with lightening throttle response and am amazing noise!!
Looking good
So what wheel width and offset did you go for with the Torques then?
I was looking at getting a set of them ages ago but never came to a decision on width.
I worked out I could get 18x8.5 et48 with a 5mm spacer front and rear to clear the suspension, but wasn't sure on the real life practicality of it.
Some good cars there, am a skyline fan myself...
So on the lead up to JAE, I'm starting to get her a little more tarted up - and have fitted another couple of mods along the way
Engine bay before I started:
Engine bay after a load of cleaning, Apexi filter with custom piping and a strut brace install and you can see my new numberplates there too:
Still a long way to go - catch can on order as well as some tasty bolts and a LOT more cleaning needed.
Tomorrow will be a long and dirty day with some cleaning, bracket painting and plastic trimming. If i'm lucky I might get to clean the interior for a change too!
Welcome to the club mate, IS is starting to look good. Really like the blue colour actually.
Im sort of the reverse of you, i have just sold my IS200 (in bits) for a Eunos Roadster in the same Mariner Blue.
Would love to get mine on throttle bodies but thats way off! if i ever do actually do it.
