rear rollbar woes, need some help
rear rollbar woes, need some help
Sheared a bolt, then sheared the screw extractor in the rear anti roll bar bushing clip bit. There is a nut on the other side that's connected to the sub frame, that appears to be welded on either side. Tried drilling again with the screw extractor in, but its ******* invincible.
Basically, is it actually meant to be welded there? I'm tempted to just bash it off, pull the bolt out and put a new nut on the end.
Anyone know the correct bolt measurements for the rear ARB fittings?
Front ones went on ok though!
Edit: Everything back there is rusted right through, including the roll bar. Nightmare.
Lots of penetrating fluid in advance for next time!
I know a few of mine were proper rusted and I had to drill a few and bolt them. Does the bit come off the car so you can drill it out off the car?

Stav - Drilling it out shouldn't be a problem. There is another 12mm sized nut behind the bolt that appears to be welded, I just thought it might be easier to cut that off and then hit the old bolt through, as it would no longer be threaded on to anything.
Drills ahoy! I don't fancy getting any naked flames that close to my petrol tank.
Cut mine off mate, came off quite easy too after hitting them with a hammer and chisel :blink: 3 of mine broke off so used nuts and bolts with thread lock to stop them coming undone :thumbup1:
Cool, that was pretty much my plan from here on. Thanks for the info guys!
Awesome. Fortunately the ball joints are all fine, fittings for the drop links are a bit stiff but they undid without causing any problems. Just seems to be all the bolts around the bushings. I am seriously concerned about how badly rusted my factory rear rollbar is though, no wonder the car feels like a boat so much!
I've got a lot of Hammerite and lacquer left over from my brake callipers. Might give it a once over.
