As I mentioned in another thread I drove to Somerset last weekend and got some surprising fuel economy. I wasn't in any way driving with a light right foot (especially on the way there as I was running late and the country lanes were awesome) but the round trip was 330 miles and I only used two thirds of the tank.

Based on that, if it had been a slightly longer journey I should have been able to get 500 miles to the tank, which would roughly be about 35mpg? To add to it it was really hot and the A/C was working pretty hard so I can't really understand where that economy came from........could it be the K&N?

Don't do a lot of mileage so will be a while before I can work down another tank, but will have to see how much I get during town driving (but I'd imagine that would be less of a difference)

DJ Wozza Sorry mate but I really doubt that. I think you will find the last (lower) third on the gauge always drops very quickly
compared to the top two thirds (or at least it does on mine :o)

You're probably right, it's a pretty speculative estimate, but the guage in my car tends to drop quite evenly right across the tank - even if it had got to 450 that would still be much better economy than I've ever seen before with the way I drive :w00t:

Looks like with the remainder being town driving I'm still going to get out to at least 400 miles.......

An easy breathing air filter will help very slightly, but not overly noticeable.

You say you don't normally do a lot of miles? maybe it's telling you to use it, and out of town Big Grin

Yep think it enjoyed having its legs stretched as it doesn't happen that often :Sulk:

Would be interesting to refill the tank and see how much is needed to fill it, then to calculate the mpg based on how many miles since filling ?

I reckon my K&N filter probably improved by fuel economy by somewhere between 5 and 10%, very roughly ?

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

Yep when I get to empty I'll report with the details Smile

Will also be interesting to see what sort of mileage I get with my normal town driving, which generally gets me somewhere around 300 miles to a tank on average.

Marsdendean Does your K&N make the IS sound a lot better - any chance you can post a video for us. Im thinking of getting a K&N and chopping the second part of the airbox off to create a little bit more noise (thanks Bandit for the tip!)

I recently got 145 miles outta £20 @£1 a litre think that works out at roughly 34mpg some motorway and some just running around, when I putthe K&N on mine it seemed slighly better but not loads.

40mm Lowering Springs, Re-sprayed Front, 6000K HID's, Re-furbed alloys, Bandit Induction Kit (cheers Chris), Raised boot spoiler with LED, Blue calipers with silver decals, De-badged rear, Chrome Oil Filler Cap (thanks to Chris again), White LED dash bulbs, Blue a/c control bulbs, Blue door markers and interior lights, Sony head unit, Chrome Lexus tax disc holder, TRD side skirts, Original Saloon Front Bumper re-fitted instead of Sportcross

Marsdendean 145 from £20. I get around 250 from £60, just shows what the auto does fuel wise!

Well I normally get around 100-110 miles off £20 which times 3 is 300-330 does the Auto like a :drink: more than the manual?
