Rabster's IS200
Rabster's IS200
NOW I've read it all mate.
Very impressive stuff. Well chosen small mods all add up to a great finish result (OK, I know it's never "finished"!)
I would like to do about 80% of that to mine.
This car has been sold twice since then and you are the first post in a year!
It is on stock internals, and could make 300+ bhp with a downpipe upgrade, I believe.
Budget £4-5k, depending how much work you can do yourself.
I was searching via tags, hence coming across the thread!
I'm surprised to hear a stock lump with stock bits can make this hp output, as I started a thread asking what would be needed for 220-225hp using a stock 1G-FE and either supercharging or turbocharging, and the answer was get an IS300 because I won't get 220-225hp using the 200 lump with a super or turbo charger!
Although that might be because of the £4-5k price tag! I'd love 280hp turbo conversion, but not for £4-5k!!!!
The answer was you won't get to 220-225 with a super you will with a turbo BUT it will empty your pockets - therefore just get a 300 and start with a better base.
If you want a fast car - get a fast one to start with.
That's the thing - I don't want a fast car. I want the car I have, but with a bit more power and a bit more torque. I wouldn't boost mine to 282hp, but the fact this one has been interests me, as it means what I want should be doable. What I want is an OEM feeling turbo - more Audi than Evo. I want to retain the standard smooth, quiet, progressive power delivery, but with just more power. No surge, no (or unnoticeable) lag, no dump valves or chatter, just smooth, progressive, quiet and refined power delivery, with more power and more torque. Maybe just the slightest little turbo whistle though And I think the 2litre 6 pot should have about 220ish bhp to "make sense"

Stoney From everything you have just described... you want a supercharger!
