random pic of the IS Smile

good news:
I'll get my manifold this week - we had to change the position of the second O2 sensor otherwise it would have looked like this (no good):

so we moved it a bit:

and here is the question of the day:

does anybody know how this thing works?

I got a bunch of them with my manifold for securing the wrap but i have no idea how to handle it
(I don't even know what this thing is called to google it)

thanks Smile

does it not work like the key on a corned beef tin? as in you put the ends in the slit and twist it?

you mean like this?

but won't it open again because of the vibrations ?

is there a possibility to fix it somehow ?

The tighter you wind them up mate the tighter the split pin closes, and should clamp the metal band, IIRC you slide one end of the metal strip through the square opening and fold it over the other end goes through the split pin?

If it was me i'd buy some stainless cable ties, they'll work a lot better :thumbup1:

Manifold and cars looking very nice mate :thumbup1:

as people keep telling me not to wrap the manifold (because of increased corrosion etc.) I'll let it like it is and will try to modify and mount the oem heat shields instead

yesterday evening I began project mainfold-change.
thanks to the skoda I can work on the lexus during the week now because I need a car to get to my office Big Grin

I disassembled most parts of the charger-kit. I was to tired to open the pit yesterday so the rack and the front heat shield are still mounted. I think the rack is the most difficult part of the charger kit so maybe I'll have to call a friend to help…

that’s what it looks like at the moment:

the manifold-thing is done already but I have to check the exhaust system if everything fits correctly as I hear a weird rattling at ~2500+rpm when I'm accelerating. I hope nothing loosened afterwards

next will (hopefully) be a LSD. until I have the money for it I think I will change the old hoses of the charger-kit for some new ones.
the old ones are pretty stiff already.

the kit is running with 0,3 bar at the moment (not super but ok for the oem-pulley...).
I have to buy a A/F sensor soon, to check if the mixture is ok. (should be, but you never know *g* )
I ordered some IK22 spark plugs as well.

I also want to buy some braces but I want to save money for the LSD first.

today I removed the last parts from the rear (speakers, damping mats, safety belts,...)
I put back in the rear package tray because I had no solution for the 3rd brake light.

that's what it looks at the moment (sorry for the bad quality of the pics):

Check the heat shields underneath, they often seem to come loose.

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !
