tte charger. lost boost
tte charger. lost boost
Hey guys i am new this site and forum so let me start by saying hello to all. Recently acquired a charger and did the upgrade to the car.
The car is a 2000 IS200 auto stock internals. Only upgrades are the charger kit which has a stock air filter and well a Blitz nur spec back box with the silencer removed, car runs on 17's all round. Now on to the figures.
Dyno first pass made 132 whp & 128 torque.
second pass 140 whp & 134 torque with the power button on and air filter off.
are these good figures for the charger kit or am I loosing boost somewhere. Any other upgrades i can do to help with hp gains...
190-205 at the flywheel is charger territory. 140 wheel horsepower is minus the transmission loss. Say that's about 17% and you're looking at 164 @ the fly which still doesn't sound right.
From what I remember you can't dyno autos properly though, the IS200 auto box can't be locked in gear. When we took Wozza's charged auto IS200 to Surrey Rolling Road we could only get similar power figures from it.
Hey dont know if this will help but the person doing the dyno did it in second gear. waited for the gear to change to second and then reached 3000 rpm and went up to limiter. what are some of the reasons for loosing boost? also he told be i am running bout 13 air fuel is that good ?
13 AFR is not bad, much better than my car at top end (not an IS200 mind you). Ideal is 13.7 IIRC.
You won't know if you are losing power through boost leaks unless you have a boost sensor or gauge connected. Dyno Dynamics dynamometers measure boost as well as torque, AFR etc and can plot this against the run so that you know what boost you make at what revs.
Auto IS200's can't be accurately dynoed. you can't lock them in gear - thats why wozzas gave silly readings.
I've already explained about the problems dynoing a auto...........
