I'm sure mine were RE040 before too, decent tyre with good grip, but just a tad noisy.

I've only been riding the ZZ3 for a couple of weeks and tbh I havent really tested them to the limit yet, traction control put a stop to that a couple of times coming out of roundabouts.

But I'll be trying to make these last as I read you'll struggle to get more than 14K from a set?

I've heard similar. But for me that's about 7 years worth of tyre :p

Found this pretty sweet looking drift spec Altezza which runs Work's on the front, and Rota's on the back...

If you look REALLY hard, the spokes are slightly wider apart on the fronts, but thats all I can tell.

Almost impossible to tell unless you look super close. Doubt there's a massive amount of weight difference between the two either.

My mind is made. Smile As far as I can tell from my research, the Rota's are pretty much identical, if not lighter.

List weight of Rota's are 9.1kg per wheel
I found an american forum saying the Work's are 22lbs (just over 10kg per wheel)

I also read, that removing 1kg of rotational mass from the wheels/tyres has the equivalent effect on your straight line acceleration as removing 10kg from the car!

Good Choice, i have a set of WORKS wheels on my Supra, they were that colour too until we painted them black

There are expensive though,

Not trying to put you off, i had some copys which were alot cheaper on one of my old fords back in the day and i buckled two of them really fast so since then i dont go for copys...but that was a long time ago, and i also know people who have had no problems with copys, maybe it was just bad luck for me..Are you going to Japfest ? i always seem to find wheels that look like mine there and you might get a bargin ???

They look great on your yellow supra, what sizing have you got? offsets etc?

I might be going, but I'm incredibly impatient. So chances are I'll have bought a set of something before Japfest! lol

There's always going to be a few bad tales from any product on the market. But as I'm not going to be putting them on a 600hp drift machine I don't think I'll be pushing any wheel beyond its limits anytime soon. :p However if I can get hold of a 2nd hand set maybe in the right fitments I'd consider it.

Here's my problem though...

Brand New Rota Torque Drift x 4: £800 delivered to my door.

Brand New Work Emotion CR-Kai x 4: £920 from eBay...
Plus Shipping: £1215
Plus Import VAT: £1458
Plus Import Duty £1523
Plus UK Handling Fee: About £1600

Now can I justify spending double the price on a product which looks and performs exactly the same. Just because of a brand name?

Little quote from the write up on that drift spec Altezza I posted up earlier...

"The front wheels are Work CR Kai's in 17x9 ET-5 and the rears are Rota Torques in 18x9.5 ET5 painted in Wexican Motorsport blue. I know the age-old hate of Rota wheels will inevitably pop up in the comments but think of it this way, spend the extra money on wheels that do the same thing or use the same money for more tires and extra seat time? It's pretty simple once you remove brand loyalty."

Rota's used to be cr@p, but have gained a lot of good rep recently.

Besides, if you completely mangle up a Rota you can go buy a new one next day. Mangle up a Work rim and you'll have to go through all the B.S of either getting it repaired at massive expense or having a new one imported which will take weeks.

Also I find a lot of 'forged' stuff to be BS. Most expensive rims are forged so that the manufacturers can use less metal to make them lighter without making them weaker - not necessarily make them stronger than cast rims. There's tonnes of threads with buckled Rays rims, just nobody willing to call them sh111t.

(and this comes from a guy who just fitted a set of Rays)
