looks like Outlook does not use Windows settings as my portfolio opens straight into Photshop, and outlook attachments open into the 2 previously mentioned programs, which is a PITA....

This is frustrating!!

I've asked the question on a tech forum I'm a member of Phil; will let you know if that bears any fruit.

IS200 Sport - Sold
Mazda 6 MPS - Zoom Zoom!

Modifications
Completed:

Currently 280bhp/295lbft; 3" Meercat custom exhaust; KW Suspension; FMIC; SSP; HPFP; Custom Stainless Steel Dials - for the moment, the only set in the world!! (Till the group buy for MPSOC anyway  )

In Progress:

E-Tuning remap ongoing via Cobb Accessport; Braided brake lines; Stubby aerial; Tinted repeaters and sidelights; 3 Port Boost Control Solenoid; 3" HTP Intake

Thanks Dave!!
There isn't even an option in the "attachments handling" tabs?

As far as I know Outlook inherits the options from Windows as others have suggested. Just tested it out on my machine (outlook 2007 on win xp) and it seems to hold true.

JPEGs were originally set to open with windows viewer, and from outlook did the same. Picked a random file on my machine, right clicked and changed the default "open with" to photoshop, and now if I open a JPEG from outlook it opens into photoshop. Then changed it back and it went back to how it was.

I'm a bit confused as to how you're getting different responses depending on where you open the file from - are they both the same type of image file that you were testing with?

parthi, you're confusing *preview* with *open*. They're 2 different things in OL2007

hmmm attachments sent via e-mail to my machine used to open in preview pain with PShop, not only in paint and Infranview.

They also only open into paint an infranview.
just a re-cap of the problem.

I didn't realise you could preview with a particular program, no worries, continue Smile

Yeah OL2007 has these preview handlers that basically run a very small version of the full blown program inside the outlook window. As far as I'm aware Adobe and Microsoft are the only people to make proper use of that - Adobe have preview handlers for images as part of photoshop and pdfs as part of acrobat.

I've no idea how the preview handlers are controlled or associated with files, though Smile
