Hurricane Erm, I hate to say it, but there's your problem, 11 months and only 3000 miles. When they sit for so long, moisture just sits on the sliders, even internally in the brake fluid, and cause everything to seize

The longest it was stood up was 4 weeks, mostly driven regularly, just only locally with no long trips (once to JAE and once to London) thought the mileage is estimated and may be more, as I only got it from Dan in August.

toxo That's a bit of a pain! However the rebuild I did was on the driver's side...

That might explain it! Though the sliders looked in good condition though. Thought we had solved it, but still binding. Must be the piston? New calliper time? it won;t be taking me to London tomorrow, that's for sure.

I have refurbed a few sets of calipers now, with mixed success. I think for the cost of the rebuild kits, against a refurbed caliper with warrenty, its a bit of a false economy doing it yourself.

My car has had 4 sets of front calipers in 2 years. 2 of these were refurbed (seals, not sliders or pistons), and lasted a matter of months

Totally agree. Sliders is fine, but when the pistons start sticking, replace with professionally refurbished calipers.

I may have to. Though I will try the ones from my spare car first. This is why it is useful to have a spare car!

If it does come to it there are a few companies that will do it, the general rule of thumb is that they charge £80-£100 per caliper, plus a core charge/deposit so when you send back your old caliper you get that refunded.
