Ok there's a bit of a wait till I get the new strip, and the one on there is getting annoying as I can't open the door without first opening the front door or it catches.
First I thought I'd stick it down, but that might make it harder to remove later so have decided to remove the strip.
What's the best way to do this? Should I just pull gently? Or is there more to it than that?
I tried looking in the manuals, but I couldn't find anything about how they stick the strip down ? :confused1:
From the ones i've seen for sale on ebay they look like they are just glued on, but not sure if they have any sort of clip on the back?
Might be a good idea if you have some or can get some? is some strong fishing line tied to 2 pieces of wood at each end, a bit like a cheese slice? slide the fishing line behind the trim and slowley pull it along from one end to the other? A bit of heat from a hair dryer or heat gun (dont go too close to the paintwork) just to help soften it a little should help it lift..
It doesn't look like it's clipped on to be honest, and from the part that's come off so far it looks like it's just black double sided tape on the back of it.
I'm too scared to use a heat gun near my paintwork, but might try heating it up with a hairdryer and then the string idea is a good one......will dental floss work?
Thanks guys
Might work mate, not sure how strong dental floss is? but you might be ok without using any heat anyway? if you use the dental floss/fishing line it should just cut through the tape on the back of the trim starting at the end that lifted :thumbup1:
Mate, use the hairdryer and I'll stick you some thin but strong fishing line in the post if you want. I use that now when de-badging instead of dental floss. Kept snapping on me lol.
Drop me a text if you want it and I'll pop it in the post to you....
