Good Day,

I have a 2004 IS200 auto which was imported to the Caribbean from the UK. The car is now doing about 175K miles and the transmission failed a couple days ago. In my country, I have access to lots of parts from Japan but I'm not sure if it will work on the IS.

In this case, the transmission is part number 35010-53020. I'm not getting this but I can get 35010-53050 which is from a Japanese Altezza with the 1G-FE Beams engine. In my mind its the same thing, and it looks identical, but I spoke to my regular part supplier and he mentioned that since my car has cruise control, most of the Japanese transmissions won't work right in the setup.

I'm here for your advice- has anyone used a transmission to replace theirs that is not the exact part number 35010-53020. I don't need cruise control to work but everything else must work right.

I cant see why it wouldn't work if it came from the same engine spec car and chassis everything should still line up

So yesterday I purchased 35010-53050 and swapped out the original 35010-53020 transmission. I've got two problems:
1) The car hesitates around 3000rpm when accelerating from rest, then after a few seconds the rpm shoots upward and the car gets going
2) The kickdown takes a few seconds to engage (for instance if overtaking)

I want to believe the two are linked somehow but can't figure out what's going on....yet. One thing considered is that a vacuum line got pinched/damaged when the engine rocked to remove the old transmission, but an inspection this morning showed no such thing.

Both transmissions have the same number of sensors and jacks. Does anyone know how IS200 kickdown works? Is there a solenoid in the valve body...that i can maybe swap over from the old box to the new one?

Under conservative driving the gears shift fine and the car does have the expected TTE power but WOT causes all the two problems listed above.

Turns out that 35010-53050 and 35010-53010 are both model 03-70LS. What I need is the 35010-53020 which is model 03-72LS. Nothing I tried makes a swap work (and I tried changing the sensors and the valve body over to the original....everything electronic).

May end up ordering the one I need from the UK by next week if I can' source it locally. Hope this helps someone with the same question.
