Tell me about it and thats after about 5 hours of flappy disc cleaning. You'd have been horrified at what we started with! It was like I'd just chucked a load of molten metal at the thing lol. Weighs about twice what it did too.

Popped to the scrapyard today, picked a couple of things, one of them was a flip sat nav console. For a grand total of £15 for everything I don't think a fiver for it was a bad deal. I was going to see if my nexus would fit (maybe if I chopped the hell out of the casing) but upon getting it home and having a good look at it, I noticed a Sony NV-U93T instead of the OEM Toyota sat nav.

It was set up in the screen holder like this. Cig lighter charger powering the unit which went into the computer board, that I assume came from the dock was kinda plugged into the back of the nav unit, it also had what I think is the traffic antenna plugged in.

I can power it with a USB cable hidden like my tablet cable, but the question I have is how does the actual Sat Nav turn on when dectecting power and switch itself off when power (ignition) is cut? I can't figure that bit out! Most threads I've read don't have that bit of information and/or pictures are no longer viewable.

Any ideas?

I see Stav used to make and sell em a few years back. Help me Stav!

Haha, I possibly made that then!

The sat nav has an inbuilt circuit that turns it on and off when power is on/off. It's one of the reasons we use that sat nav!

Might well be a genuine Stav Nav!

Awesome so I don't need to do anything! How did you power em, solder power direct to the cradle or run a USB cable to it?

I dunno' what to do with it. I don't really need sat nav due to having my tablet installed, so I might sell it or use the console for my guages. But I've never seen them look decent when stuck inside the console.

I've ran power from the cradle wires to the stav nat, but it cuts out on me after a minute or so, so I may need to run power from elsewhere.

Works fine though, well impressed for my fiver outlay!

Does the key programming guide on the forum work or is it easier to just go and get it done properly? Mines almost dead, the body is snapping and it's my one and only key! I've read about 3 button fobs, ones that open the boot as well, I want one. Are these real, I've always assumed the boot is cable operated.
