I've had an annoying problem with the alarm on my car since i bought it 3 years ago. It randomly goes off whenever it feels like it.

I've read that there are issues with the internal sensor playing up but the guy i bought the car from told me he replaced that with a brand new one and it didn't make a difference. I've disconnected it and that also didn't help.

Other things ive tried are replacing the siren in the boot with a second hand unit and disconnecting the bonnet switch. Again still the same.

It's not the end of the world as you just use the locking button on the drivers door when getting out then lock manually with the key in the door but it still like to get it working properly.

Anyone got any other ideas?

What year is the car? I think on the early models pressing lock twice disabled the interior sensor to se dig that helps.

I've got the same problem, although it's never done it at home only ever when parked up at work.

Its a late 2001 and i believe its a facelift model.

As the interior sensor is unplugged it can't be anything to do with that?

I've read on a forum somewhere that wires above the headliner can short out. Seems like a long shot to me and i decided ages ago that I'd just live with it rather than take all that apart to find nothing wrong.

I did speak to a mobile car alarm guy and upon explaining the problem he told me he didn't think he could fix it and wouldn't even come to look at it. I can't remember exactly but he asked me if it was just the horn or both the horn and siren going off so he must know a little about them?

Hmm so yo can't disable it with two presses then I don't think.
Would need some physical testing as the next stage

I think you can disarm the interior sensor by cycling the locking button a number of times but i cant remember exactly?

Does the alarm system log fault codes that can be read via the obd port?
