DannyStock Likewise on the VVTi cover, mines pretty much disentegrated.

Might try a different idea on bypass/BOV theory. Scrap the both and run a 2nd throttle on the supercharger inlet. Alot of the MX5 guys do this, it would eliminate the need for either a bypass or BOV (stealth).
I'm thinking that a diesel throttle body, vacuum operated (non-electric, unless you want to get fancy and rig a vacuum soelnoid off the manifold vac feed and wire it in to the motor on the TB) as they are open under ambient/+ pressure and closed during vacuum. In my head thinking that it should mimmick the action of the actual car throttle butterfly...
Something like this could work;

For 20 quid ebay i may just order one (this one being from a volvo/ford 2.0 diesel). I can test the action just off the vac pipe to satisfy my curiosity.

Thoughts?

Thats similar to the bypass surely? just a more reliable version?

Shouldn't be alot of work at all, Should be able to put it in line before supercharger (intake side) and run the vacuum pipe a few inches more to it.
If it's succesful, then a new/revised manifold will be made up long term.

Principal is v.similar to the bypass. But it will be acting as a secondary throttle body.
As the car's TB closes, so does the diesel valve.
The supercharger inlet is now the cars new air intake, so having the extra valve to act as a TB. Restricing the air that the s/c can take in.

Ideally moving the IS's TB to the supercharger inlet would be the most ideal set up.
So an additional butterfly/TB/valve is the next best and easiest way around it.

Talking to Faz last night and he reckons someone on Facebook has designed something very similar to the TTE with a cable running to your pedal which opens and close like that rather than using pressure.

£140 or £160, basically twice the price of a new bypass. Faz reckons had they been about when he had his DIY, he'd still be running it rather than the TTE. The Facebook IS200 club are having a meet on Sunday in Cov. Might pop down and have a proper word with him about it.

Haven't heard about the new one in development, i've searching for hours while doing the build trying to find something along those lines. Ideally, I don't want the hassle of extra throttle cables, but it would obviously give the best operation.
I'll have a scroll aoround the mx5 forums in the meantime, check out their set ups

I'm going to have a play about with this diesel valve, connect to the vac pipe and see what the operation is like.

I'm seeing Faz tomorrow so I'll get more information on it. From what I gathered the other day, A dude in Bulgaria strips down the mini bypass and makes it so it opens and close on throttle. It apparently mimics the TTE one.

Could be the beginnings of a plan - Can't imagine it would be too hard to add a cable pulley to the butterfly shaft of the mini bypass.

I will report my findings with the diesel valve hopefully tomorrow
