parthiban I'm with Gord, seems very odd that they've just refused instead of putting the price up really high. Are you a very troublesome customer? :p

As others have said, you will need to tell any future insurer that you've been denied cover - they will say nothing about it now, but as soon as you need to make a claim they will refuse cover on that basis.

When you mentioned that, troublesome, just realised its probally cause of the complaint ive taken to the Financial Ombudsman who are still dealing.

Idiots

just there disgusting customer service and under hand tactics when I renew my policy this time last year on my IS200, there ripped me off admitted it then denied it and left me with no insurance for a week, without telling me, even though i had confirmation that i had a policy in place.

Im going to mention this to FOS next time I speak to them.

After Pathiban's advise I spoke to Direct Line to find out the reason why they decided to refuse me

I quote "you were abusive to members of staff in Dec 08"

Lol, let me say I was never abusive to any member of staff, and made it quite clear to her that the real reason why there have refused is because of the complaint the FOS are dealing with.

Since my last email to FOS on 13 October had no reply, so sent another making them aware and requesting evidence of where I was abusive. see what happens.

I asked her the conditions surrounding refusal, I cant take a new policy out with them, I can take policies with other companies.

I asked her if i take a policy out with another company and they dont ask whether i been refused, am i still laibile to declare such information, she stated no, if they dont ask they not interested, is the reply I got.

I asked about any future polices where I may be a named driver, she said the refusal has no impact and I can be a named driver on a direct line policy

Lol the saga continues, will be interesting what reply i get from FOS

You're right to ask for evidence, and I don't see how they can refuse you insurance unless they can provide such evidence. I am really not sure that's correct that you don't have to tell another insurance company if they don't ask, there's normally some sort of clause in the policy about how you have to disclose "all material facts", and that would be a material fact (being refused insurance) that the company could easily use to refuse to pay out.

Try and stay as calm and polite as you can when dealing with them though, even if you don't like what they're telling you. That way you can stick to the moral high ground.

If you weren't abusive, ask for the recording of the conversation (they record all their calls as the recorded message always says) as you could add it to your list of complaints if unjustified.

I still think whether they ask or not you have to mention that you've been refused insurance as they will refuse cover when a claim is required.

Good news though that it's fine to be a named driver, might be the best option for the time being if the price is best that way.

yh thats what i thought, this is the thing i was quite calm with them throughout the whole complaint process thats why i know me being abusive is a complete lie. i only become abusive to cold callers so they would stop ringing me, stuff like this i know being abusive does not help, experiance in working in a callcentre.

what im doing now is just reading some random insurance companies t&c's to see what it says about refusal.

Saraj You work in a call centre so you would have a better idea than me.
If you have a customer that is being rude or abusive do you always tape the call.

If you feel you been victimised then why not ask as Steve has said polite and calm can you prove that i was rude via a tape or other recording of the call.

All though it not helpful but it better to be refused insurance for being rude than being refused insurance because of a risk/cost factor, neither i must say is ideal.

I am guessing that the insurance company would need a second person to confirm that you were being that rude they never want to deal with you again.

Insurance companies record all phone calls, not sure how long they keep them for but they definitely record them.

in my place of work they have just started recording all calls which is top class, so if i customer says one thing we can prove it by providing the tape

so yes Direct Line should have a recording, so thats the line ill go, see where you ocming from thats it better to be refused for that then risk
