Brake Parts??
Brake Parts??
Assuming that's what's happened to mine as well, why does it stay quiet for a while and then only start squealing after a reasonable amount of time has passed?
toyota and lexus do use the exact same 3m tape(for people that moan about pad rattle a lot)
Mmmm interesting thread, think I'll enquire at Lexus as to the cost first, or try my friend who works for Lexusneaky2: if it's not too bad I'll get them.
Still think the 3M ones might help with the rattle/squeal as well, so will bare these in mind too.
Appreciate everyones input.

Okay I've ordered the 3M ones that I'll probably use on the rears as I'd imagine the shims are missing from there as well. I've also odered some new pads, these will come with shims (Delphi), I'll buy some fresh Copperslip as my old stuff is probably older than some of the guys reading this thread......I kid you not.
Oh and how about this. A young guy at work used to work for Vauxhall as a mechanic, he has a mate at Toyota, so I asked him if he could get me some anti squeal shims.........He didn't have a clue what I was talking about, even when I described the part he still had no idea!!!!!!!!! ....Unreal and pretty scary.

Will do Wozza...........The pads I got for £18 as the bloke had a "Make an Offer" auction, original price £20 (plus £5 postage)......I know it's only 2 quid but it makes me feel better:wink:. Not that there will be anything wrong with the Mintex pads I fitted back in July/August,or at least I hope not, just wanted to start fresh and get rid of this really annoying squeal that's been there a few weeks now, just need some nice weather now to get it donemoke:
I'll keep the Mintex as spares and scrub them up clean.

Well this was a f*ck up from start to finish!! After confirming a couple of times with the Ebay seller that these Delphi pads DEFINATELY came with the shims, I ordered them. Guess what?????? NO SHIMS!!!! Contacted the seller..."Where are the shims"......seller "I was told by Delphi that they were included, we'll refund you". I asked if they could track me down the shims as they were a Motor Factor suppliers, after two days they came back with a big "No".
Okay, no problem, I'll send them back and they'll refund me, I have to go out of my way to get to a post office and shell out another £8 postage......today I get the Paypal refund MINUS the £8 it cost me to send them back......Now I'm banging my head, I mean how hard is it?? After a few phone calls (I'd given up emailing back and forward) to the seller I finally got the money back.
Lesson: Ebay has some cr*p sellers.
So okay now I go back to Lexuspartsdirect.co.uk......price is £43.26 for 4 thin bits of metalad: I'm still thinking about it.
